Happy New Year, friends! For some reason, I didn’t really feel much of a difference between transitioning years. Usually, I end my year – regardless of whether it was a 10 or a 2 – by tying all loose knots, setting goals, and literally turning the page for a new life chapter. This time, though, everything feels so arbitrary. I wrote my goals and filled out my new planner on January 1 instead of beforehand. I have lots of ideas, but I’ve also been keeping to myself. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll have noticed I’ve been so inactive (ever just want to delete your account and start over?). I almost feel like I’m still waiting for the year to begin, like we’re still in rollover-from-2018 mode.
That being said, one of the things that inspires me most is travel…something I haven’t done much of in the second half of 2018. The decision to stay local was valid, but is now catching up to me. In the next couple of weeks, I’m hoping to jumpstart my brain, creativity and “year” with an overnight getaway.
In my opinion, there are two types of travel. The first always opens my eyes to new perspectives: going somewhere new. I genuinely love meeting new people, trying new places and just getting lost in random cities. To me, that’s the best way to experience culture and explore. Then there’s the type of travel where you visit a familiar place or person, and you can unplug or just refresh your settings. Both are valuable and necessary at different times. And in 2019, I’m hoping to enjoy a fair share of both.
What is something that inspires you, that you’re hoping to really connect with in 2019? I’d love to know!
