I will admit I am super late to the podcast game. I’ve always been curious, but never really had the time or interest in figuring out which I would like. Then, I invested in AirPods. It sounds silly, but being hands-free introduced me to a new range of consumption. I could now discover podcasts and try audio books, while moving about freely. Not an AirPods ad, just a serious fan, by the way.
Anyway, last week I did a poll on my Instagram stories asking if you guys had an interest in learning which podcasts I’m loving lately. You said yes, so here we are!
Note: I tried the Murder ones and I tried entertainment-based ones, but I really only enjoy the ones that teach me new things in my industry, and allow me to stay educated and to grow.
WorkParty with Jaclyn Johnson – This one is probably my hands-down favorite. I’m a huge Create & Cultivate fan, and have been truly inspired by Jacklyn’s business growth and her philosophies for success. Her book WorkParty is also great if you haven’t read it. The podcast of the same name is about an hour long (or mini episodes are around thirty minutes), and Jaclyn interviews female CEOS, leaders in the industry, creators about life as modern-day businesswomen. I swear I learn something new each time I tune in.
First episode to listen to: Start by Starting: Getting your business off the ground with Bobbi Brown
Swipe Up with Katherine McDermott – I found about this podcast when Carly was a guest speaker, and I really enjoyed it. Katherine’s a great interviewer and host, and uses her podcast time as a way to educate the listeners about where social media and the role of “influencer” is headed.
First episode to listen to: Can You Have A Long-Term Career in Blogging? ft. Carly the Prepster
The Influencer Podcast with Julie Solomon – This podcast is very similar to Swipe Up, but I love hearing a variety of viewpoints about the same topic, especially one that’s so gray. Also, she’s got great guests, most recently, Julia and Thomas of Gal Meets Glam.
First episode to listen to: Instagram Growth & Effective Social Media Marketing with Jennifer Puno
How I Built This with Guy Raz – True to that entrepreneurial spirit I’m so in love with, I will never tire of hearing other innovator’s start-up stories. How I Built This covers such a wide range of businesspeople; there is definitely an episode for everyone in their archives.
First episode to listen to: Rent The Runway: Jenn Hyman
Freakonomics Radio – I was shocked I liked this one at first. But, their How to Be Happy episode was the first I listened to in completion. The topics on this podcast are more socioeconomic, think, like their books.
